Underworld: DrugLords is on!

Finally, version 1.1 has arrived. Here is what we’ve got for you:
- Dynamic local economy — supply&demand situation in your area will change from time to time
- Player-to-player messaging & public shouts
- Map improvements — you can see drug labs & junkies in your neighborhood thus make considered business decisions
- Tiled game world structure, allowing dealers to interact even on the distance
- Human alike bots don’t exist anymore — everyone you could encounter in the game is either a druglab, a junkie or another real dealer like you
- Lots of interface improvements & minor bug fixes
No worries, all your character data will migrate to the new version (only few hours of your activity will be lost).
Now go to Cydia and download the update. To do that, open Manage section, find UW:DrugLords from the list of installed apps, then tap Modify, Update and wait until it loads.
If you experience troubles updating the game, try installing all the essential Cydia updates first or removing the game completely and installing it from scratch again.
Game help we’ve promised some time ago is on it’s way!

due to the update i am now a “Loc (12)”
think this is due to me leveling up a few hours before the update and the change in price to update.
when earn the money back to update again will this correct itself?

@a_steroids maybe a bug maybe its just bad news, in the cream of the crop i am the only one showing used to be a few people here is that due to them not upgrading or am i really the only one in my area?
Also i keep getting the “error network error” message.

modo, if you really have purchased this level-up in the last few hours, you have to purchase it again. We had to make this small rollback to launch a new game server. Hope you regain your cash soon, considering the new economy.

the server is really slow, and keep getting “network error” thingy. And some of my cash were gone. Ugh. Having a hard time buying, coz its really slow.

MODO what is the link to your unofficial forum? I’d like some info on how to play this freaking game. I’ve been trying it for a few hours now (a few hours last night before the update), and then the new version this morning. It’s very confusion, and I have a hard time figuring out WTF is going on.
Is there no way to travel around other than physically traveling?

Do you have plans to get a larger sever to handle the extra traffic. Once you release a AppStore version it will be even more congested. Been trying to connect for the last 4 hours and only connected twice for about 5 mins before i was dropped again. Really frustrating
I have not even had a proper chance to check it out to give a opinion on it. Good or Bad.
Connecting WiFi also tried 3G. Continuing to try on Wifi.

Congratulations! I have the 1.1 up and running and it looks good. As probably expected, it is not running without a fer hiccups. The only problem that I experienced was that half of my inventory and virtually all of my cash disappeared. I’m sure you have nothing else to do so looking into this for me will be a priority. Seriously though, don’t worry too much about it. The whole apparatus seams to be working much better and faster then before the switch-over. I will continue to play and rule the drug underworld in my part of the world.

Ok what is up with cops? out of 12 buys 9 were busts? I have lost $1000’s now. At this rate I will never be able to upgrade?
Can you elaborate on COPS I mean why so many busts? It was never this bad before.

But yes I know I will get busted more with no evasion, but I have been doing this for the last upgrade about 1 1/2 ago and NEVER has it been this bad. yes 1 out of 10 are busts but not 9 out of 12.

think they are making it a bit harder.
level 0 i can image will work on the lower drugs but speed and upwards you will need evasion.
all i can recommend is you put some leveling up into that.

I just got busted too! Sucks but what can you do..it happens I guess. Seems like it’s going to take a while to make enough for upgrades. Living rural has its drawbacks. Not enough junkies…I NEED MORE JUNKIES! Buy my stuff and make me rich and powerful dammit.

Ooo yeah one more thing..
In 1.0 it happens to me 1 time in a week I needed to reset my Iphone coos I can’t connect to the server (network error) but sins the upgrade this is happen to me 4 a 5 times already
I think it’s a problem not whit the network but the GPS that its still in use from the last time I was connected whit UW coos its scanning the aria and after a small time w8ing its tells me network error and my foon is sometime hot on the backside like I used my gps a lot.

yeah, the cops now suck real hard!!
because of the drug labs have only one pice of cheap drugs you have to buy wery often from them and every second time i get busted… today i think about 10 times or more…. this suxx real hard ! it’s very hard to make money and update to a better protection. Please fix that the busts are not as often as now.

Edwin, we didn’t change any location detection mechanisms, should be the same as in 1.0. Not sure what could it be. Didn’t you change firmware, carrier, any settings?

Where did all the drugs go. I’m at level 15 and my next upgrade is close to 2 Million, but at the rate I’m going after the new roll out I can see myself quiting the game all together before that happens. Before the upgrade I could buy Coke at a clip of 4 or 5 a pop. now i’m lucky if I can find one lab selling coke. The same applies for the rest of the Top drugs. The Market seems to have dried up over night. I only have one more upgrade for Police Evasion so I have the ability to buy whatever I want without fear of the Authorities, but there now seems to be no market in the three areas I frequent. Before, these areas pushed me to level 15 in about a 1 month time span.

before update max busts a day for me was about 2,3 times buying maily coke thats out of say 10 to 15 deals all buying coke but lots at a time say 14 to 20 coke bought per deal
so far today 7 bust all on top 3 items coke shroons and lsd .
but thats out 28 buys so far today .
dont know if thats just the same % of busts per deal
and its just that we haveing to make way way more deals as only buying 1 item at a time now .
dont think its the cops is wrong just the amout of deals now haveing to be make .more deals more risk but same % of busts to deals
…..

The whole one item at a thing now is pretty discouraging. You basically can’t make any real money anymore. Seeing more real people is cool, but now the prices you can command are lower because of the human element all fighting for that sell, and you just don’t have the supply. When you’re a small seller, it’s cool, but once you’ve reached the upper levels of the game you don’t really care about the cops taking their taste, you just want the supply. My supply is non existent now and I frequent multiple locations that were once booming with product. What supply changes were implemented in this new release?

Does anyone realize that there is already a game with the same premise in the app store? It’s called Prohibition 3!!! I like underworld much more but just a thought, if the devs are trying to be orignal and make money there is already competition. I wish them the best though because of all the hard work they have put in.

Underworld is way better than Prohibition 3 Candy Wars . its not a bad game but does gets dull pritty quick . the whole consept of this game with the moveing around real areas is brillent totally and orignal,
dont think there will be much if any competition.

Regarding the cops. Even if you have the best police protection you still have a chance get busted buying coke and other high rated commodities. It’s the concept of the game - dirty business can’t be 100% safe.
Although we are about to revise police raid chances after the daily world stats arrives. Gonna see how bad it is.

I have the same problems as everyone else up there. I am at lvl cops and I got busted 6 times out of the 9 times I tried to buy? WTF? and then there’s these labs that only pump out 1 drug at a time. Uh okay. I really liked the game but I hope this changes soon.

Even at max police evasion (lvl 5), you will still get busted on occasion. What works for me, buy low amounts at a time, and if you get busted, close UW, wait a minute, go back and buy a different amount. Repeating the exact same buy seems to cause the multiple busts, it often happened to me on 1.0 .

I don’t really care about getting busted. I know it’s all part of the game but I don’t like how these labs only produce 1x quantity of each drug. Liked it better when I can buy like 7x or 10x of a certain drug.

Hi guys.
Great app, great concept. But there are some really annoying bugs
Btw, I tried to give feedback through the app, but that’s impossible because of what I call STAB (scanning-the-area-bug, see below).
Bugs that didn’t change with the update:
- STAB: the app shows the “scanning the area”-message for ca 30 secs (sometimes longer), message disappears, text in background disappears (no more offers, money = 0), message reappears for another 30 secs. then in 50% app works normally, in 50% the message stays forever)
- When starting the app: 50% STAB
- When buying stuff, it only works 40% (20% Network error, 20% deal no longer available, 20% STAB)
- When changing prices, checking the map, returning from the buy/sell-screen: 50% STAB
When on WLAN, increased chance of this bugs, but they also happen on 3G. And they happen everywhere.
There’s also a new bug since the update: the app crashes spontaneously (20%): screen goes black, stays black for a while, then app closes.

This update ROCKS!! I never got busted by the cops before, and now they are nailing me every other time I buy!! It’s gonna cost me $3,000 to get the first level of police protection!! BUT, like just now, when I found a deal to make some cash, I got busted for over $1000!! I can’t get ahead ! PLEASE lower upgrades! This is too tough! I’ve been playing for months!

DopeNet, thanks for the bug reports! Definitely gonna work on this STAB issue.
What comes to the black screen & crashes bug - please try rebooting your phone. Seems like this is a memory leaking issue, and UW 1.1 is pretty clean on that but needs a good amount of free RAM, so this might be a problem with some other app you have installed on the phone. Pls let me know how it goes after reboot.

Busted 9 times trying to buy 4 speed one at a time. That’s is crap. My cop upgrade is zero, but that’s still freaking excessive. When upgrades overall go up so much it’s hard to balance it.

cat daddy has been playing for “months” and is only on a 3k upgrade path?
Don’t knwo what you guys did, but this upgrade solved the issues I was having with the game not booting, I was able to finally log back in and start trading again, the swiping to get to the new drugs is improved, although still a bit buggy, it’s not near as bad as it used to be.
I’m going to miss the bots though, it seems like my drugs were sold much quicker with bots around.. but to compensate, it looks like you increased my trade area significantly.

Hey I was just wondering if there will ever be a way to pay our loans in full. I understand they payment system as it forces you to make a payment for the first 5 days, but couldn’t that be a minimum payment and make it so you can pay at anytime during the day?

the update was needed but has seemed to trigger a bunch of other issues now. The cops busts are out of control. It seems like you get busted at least half the time you buy. This is with me at a level 2 upgrade
With so many busts, and with the amount to level up being so high now, its hard to even come close to keeping an even balance.
Also, i am assuming this is the network, but 80% of time it takes over 30 seconds to load up, it will say 0 for money, etc etc.. Or it loads up, and if you arent say standing in the same general area, deals are no longer availabled after pressing over and over again to buy, it freezes, network errors.. Before the update, i was able to pull open the game in the car, quickly check my stuff and buy.. this doesnt work at all, i try to buy while im moving, even slowly, and it fails
i like the new update, but actual game play and bugs seemed to be far less in the previous version just my 2 cents

oh yea, while i was typing all that, i tried to check the game, i opened it, loaded slow, then i tried to buy, network errors, hit retry, came back busted by cops now, then it went to network errors again, and did it 3 times back to back.. i just gave up.. ill try playing it again another time..

Hi Guys! Nice Update! Whats going on my nerves: man many Network Errors even with WiFi-connection. Servers seem to be very busy. It would be nice if you could upgrade your servers.

Oke I know what’s the problem is: be for the patch you buy coke for +-$1200,- and your sell it for +-$5000,-
If u get busted 1 time you’re still make a profit even if u get busted 2 times!!
Now you buy from someone for +-$4000,- and u sell its for like +-$6000,- but if you get busted you never get your money back out of it! The cops are the same but it’s too hard to make a profit now!! Be for the patch I had $3.750.000 and now I am at $3.765.160 almost the same amount of money!!

But sins the update the map is a lot smaller and its more the neeberhood now I think that is a pity the dealers around me I know see where there at. Is it possible u make it like google maps you can zoom in and out? Or get the city thing back

the map dose seem a bit odd at home it shows me off to the left side of the map at work iam in the middle of the map ( 50 miles from home )
stops in bewteen home and work sometimes in the middle of the map other times off to the left again all working fine just strange

Thanks for your reply. Booting the phone helps indeed. No more STAB if I start the app right after a reboot.
Still, it sometimes takes very long to start up the game (30+ sec). Also, the “network errors” and “deal no longer available”-messages and endless areas-scans remain. But those might be server-sided problems.
I like the game a lot but its’ sometimes really annoying to deal with the bugs.

I am a little confused about the junkies. Some sort of documentation more explicit than the help currently found in-game is needed.
What prompts junkies to buy? How is it determinable at what price a junky will buy?
I have a fair stash of a certain commodity, and there is a junky who demands this commodity in my tile. My price is low. Why will the junky not buy?
When junkies do buy, under what conditions does this occur?

Marshall, thanks for the questions, such details will definitely go to the help section.
The junkies are trying to find the stuff regularly, a few times per hour usually. There is only one simple rule: to find the cheapest price in the area (current tile) which should not exceed the maximum price limit junkie has set for himself. The number of items he is purchasing, the regularity and the maximum price limit are generated randomly when the junkie is born. So, if you are having trouble pushing something to your local users, here are your options: lower your price (while you’re still profitable), try to push it to the other dealers outside your area, move to another spot or just wait until your local supply & demand changes.

Same here, lost today about 110′000$ within a very short time (and yes, I buy only one item a time). Frustrating as hell. Have been playing UW for 2 months and it seems i’ll be game over in a day. Same frustrating is the unbelievable buggyness of this simple program, 1.1 beeing even worse and slower then before.
andrey, you always write you are thankfull for constructive critics, but you don’t really seem to care because nothing changes, some things even become worse.
There are good drugs which can enrichen life and give you a lot, and there are bad drugs, which just take from you, time and energy, and make you addictive while promising more and more…

Guru, the way we see it the bad part is that you don’t have much control over the police busts.
There are two things we are going to do to deal with that:
- police danger level indicator in the market screen, so you’d always know how safe are you
- cop patrols visible on the map (or else), so you could wait until they’re gone or move to another spot where it’s safe to deal
Danger indicator is already implemented and will go live in the next version update.

It’s been a while since I posted. Level 16 and climbing! I haven’t been following the thread in the various on-line areas lately. I can’t tell if going to the “officially sanctioned” version is going to be good or not. I have to say that I am more than a little nervous. Apple has already made it more than clear that they don’t like jailbreaking or anything associated with it. To me, it sounds as if they’re a big bunch of whiners (read this as #@!!$%^&&). Apple has intentionally dumbed their equipment down in order to continue to sell us the newest, upgraded version of the iphone. I can’t speak for everyone out there but I resent their business model. The idea of intentionally giving less for more is insulting. Manufacturers such as Blackberry (I own two) try to include as much as they possibly can with each new platform they offer. Usually when a new phone is launched it is not that it offers so much more than previous versions, it’s that it does what it always has only faster or with more ease of use.
With this business model in mind, why should any of us, including you, Andrey, expect any better treatment in the future. All of the “underground” software developers out there have created applications that make apple’s products do what they should have done right out of the box. I absolutely treat my cellular devises as tools of business first and gaming platforms second. With that said, it was very refreshing and an absolutely great diversion to find a game like Underworld. Well designed and thought out as well as requiring timing and strategy to play; not like the Brick Breaker apps that are the standard fare of cell phones.
The news portion of the game indicated that our game data will be migrated to the Sweetdeal game. I hope this is true and that the migration will go off without a hitch. I have several weeks and a lot of hours invested in getting to where I am in the game;per the map and other player information available to me in game, I am the highest level anywhere in the State of Maine and maybe northern New England. I would not be surprised if Apple finds a way to make further gameplay unavailable to anyone currently playing the Beta version out of spite for all of us having hacked phones. I would love to hear more from you, Andrey, on exactly how the change over will be done. Do we have to pay for the new appstore version? Hopefully you will be getting a good paycheck for all of the work and effort you’ve expended. If we buy this new version, will our ingame I.D. get us back to where we were? Please post something about this if you would.
Just since I’ve been playing, the number of players around me has quadrupled at least. I know that there are a lot of people wondering how it’s all going to work. After-all, just like crack, once you start playing, it’s hard to stop; but we may if apple, in typical fashion, makes this more of a pain in the ass than it’s worth. Thanks for all you’ve done!
