Underworld welcomes the Jailbreakers’ community for beta-testing
It’s been almost two months since Underworld was submitted to the AppStore for review. With thousands of other applications being reviewed, we still have no idea when the UW going to be reviewed.
Whilst we are all holding our breath, we have decided it’s time to start polishing the game beta, which is, of course, impossible without real players. So, if you are a Cydia user, you are welcome to check out Underworld right away!

P.S. We know, there is still a lot of people who want to play the game badly but don’t have Cydia. Well, this beta release for Cydia Jailbreakers’ community doesn’t change our plan to become available in AppStore soon.

Sean, what’s your device (iPhone/iPodTouch) and the firmware vesion? Did you try to reinstall the game or to restart the device?

I’ve got a regular (non-3G) iPhone on firmware 2.2 and jailbroken with Quickpwn. I’ve tried uninstalling, reinstalling and rebooting the phone with no luck.

I have a small bug of the GPS is not correct it tells me I am in Veldhoven when i am outside that’s 35KM away from my place and when i am inside me house it tells me i am in Noordhoek that’s 60KM from me I am, Tilburg The Netherlands well Holland is oke :p when I go to Google maps it’s all oke there Tilburg The Netherlands. Oke i have one more and i don’t know if its normal now but when i go to Cream of the Corp all ppl playing are at the same place as me Home: Noordhoek, Provicie Noord-Brabant
There are a lot of names on it: Zahur, Masao, Murry, Bugess, Hoa, Elger, Deo…
Now its starting whit Veldhoven Pilar, Hotah, Desi, Xan, Tu and from now on it’s a mix of the two

What i would like is something like missions… deliver 5 pills or Herbs or whatever to…. A Street need by. so u need to walk drive bike skeet to it deliver your stuff and make extra Money then u have a active game make ppl walk more hahaha apple loves that the Nintendo Wii sold good so

Although you might consider submitting some feature requests through About -> Feature request section. We are reading it carefully too and this way it’s 100% guaranteed we don’t miss it

form belfast n/ireland here and there are around 10-20 ppl in the area im picking up. the game looks great but its just so hard 2 sell anything even at the lowest possable price no 1 buys ( please add massage or chat and add friends if possable ) and it would be good if u had a buyer that would buy gear back at below cost price just for when u need cash fast

same here in northen ireland mate there are bots on mine selling 400+ pills and cacti at $13 per pill and 49 per cacti so the game is at a stand still.

Im having the same problem in texas, I keep checking and shanee has like 544 cacti at 58, 504 herbs at 27 and it grows everytime I check. I love the concept of the game, but cant really play.

Game is going kinda better but still hard to play, I think shanee got busted, he doesnt have near as much stuff now. Will there be an update soon? Have you guys though about having one of the well known cydia repo’s host this beta to get more players and exposure?

Hosting Underworld on a repo that is included with the default jailbreak would certainly help the game’s popularity. However, it isn’t necessary as this is still a beta test.

I agree, but how is it going to help the beta if all of the people around you are only bots, I beleive it will be better for testing if real people are who you are buying and selling from to make sure it will work like that.

If that is so u have a big problem att if u lived in Taxes now there are, if u lucky 2 a 3 more players then the game stops for u. now no one is buying stuff from u. so the game get bored and u stop playing if the game is realsed in the app store more ppl downloading it then. then its grows bigger and u can start thinking of it

keep up the good work, i have found a few bugs in mine, firstly game crashes when i go and try to access map!
map areas are wrong, keeps saying i am in the west midlands when i am in yorkshire
long delays, when switching menus
but definately a good basis to work upon!

How are the drugs “created” ? Will new users start with a basic amount of drugs or will there be drugs created for example in Florida (Imported) that will make its way up north through users selling? That would be nice, as they would get more expensive the further away you are from a port, but there also has to be a way for drugs to be “used”…can’t just keep on selling it to other dealers..
Also, are the computer users generated when someone signs up? I noticed a ton of them around my house where I created my account, and almost none downtown..
In any case good work, it’s pretty stable for a beta and I have high expectations for the final version!

G-Money: If you added A-steroids’ repository and it is listed in Sources section (Manage/Sources), all you have to do is open that section, tap on our repo, then tap on the Underworld (should be only one there), tap Install, then Confirm. Enjoy.

Battery saving idea the GPS is every time looking where we are but like me and a lot of more ppl here are a lot at the same place why u not make it so: if u start up the game he ask.. u are u still at the same place or u moved? In reference to the ‘map crash’ - this is one of the known issues, and it seems like it’s not relevant to the firmware version. Really annoying, I know. Gonna try to fix.

What comes to the updates and our current todo’s, the priority tasks are:
- AppStore-suitable game version (more people -> more fun, you know :))
- world economy changes (should fix stangation in some unlucky areas)
- server stability issues

Can it be made that the bots prices dont stay consistent, or is this your way of regulating the market a bit so that there is a stratification in items? Do bots purchase as well or just inject product into the market??
some suggestions. much like in drugwars you should insert some type of “events” that happen that shift the markets prices. Other ways to make money for sure…such as carrying products between users who can not reach each other but see eachother on the map.

Im at level 9 now, there are a few things that bother me:
The level upgrades are not per category, for instance, I have done most of my upgrades in ‘Police Evasion’, now, to upgrade my Carry space to Level 2 (Duffel Bag) its going to cost me $50,000.
There is no option to attempt to run from the police. I have lost over $30,000 getting busted so far. (that’s why I have spent my upgrades on Police Evasion)
No Option to pay off the loan in full. I had a bad day when the police took all my money and I missed a loan payment. The loan shark DOUBLED the amount I owed. Now I owe $1900, and I have over $20,000 in cash, and a bunch of Drugs. I just want to pay it off and be done with it.
Other than those gripes, I haven’t had any crashing problems, and I really am enjoying the game.

50k was easy 2 get. I just upgraded my 100k mark the next 1 is 200k the more u upgread wot u can sell the more cash u get. i just double the price of anything i buy and it sells no problem. the higher priced items i buy for around 1k and sell for around 2k but iv found that the area im in is good for some items and bad for others but if i move around i can get better deals…. i hope this helps

First let me say the concept is great and as a software developer you guys/gals have done a wonderful job. With that out of the way, Lets talk about some opportunities I think you guys can implement.
1)The upgrades definitely should be per category and with varied price points. Doubling the cost of upgrades is discouraging when the police come in a and raid the place just when you start making decent money. It almost makes me want to quit when the police rob all my capital and the next upgrade is $12,000. There needs to be some risk/reward notice on sellers so that you hear if anyone suspects the buyer may have a cop associated with purchasing from them. The player then has to choose if their willing to take that chance instead of buying in the dark and just accepting that the cops are going to get me eventually and set me back.
2) The goggle maps implementation does not work well with iTunes running in the background. In fact iTunes seems to cause some instability in the application when the GPS kicks in (it typically crashes).
3) The cop implementation should be expanded, like showing them on the map with some form of evasion available and adding functionality where you have the option to rat on folks in exchange for reduced penalties. The fines you pay should also be dependent on what you were caught selling (Small fines for soft drugs and heavier fines for harder drugs (risk/reward)).
4) There should be some implementation where Human players should be identifiable (even if only for a limited period) from drones on the map with some form of messaging available. This would allow players to work together when buying and selling if they so choose. It also gives you someone to rat on in exchange for reduced penalties. When you get busted the game should give a you a list of 3 players to rat on along with showing a list of 3 players that could have possibly snitched on you. Players you refuse to snitch on should also receive messages of your loyalty which should encourage better cooperative sales and pricing.
5) The game needs a bank and you should have the option of paying off loans at any time. The game also needs Consignment so that if you find yourself broke you can get a packet of drugs to sell or a loan to pay off the debt. If you choose Consignment, if you sell all of a particular drug you then become eligible for a small loan to start making money while you sell the rest of the Consignment drugs.
Great game and just some thoughts you may or may not be interested in. I hope you guys make it in the app store so that the user base explodes. Good luck.

All of that sounds good 2 me but 1 thing u forgot its needs a game reset or start new game, i know of 1 or 2 that has messed up there game and the only way 2 reset is 2 send a email 2 andrey.

I agree with monty. I’ve been having a really ***ty time buying and selling and would like to have the option to reset if my cash flow starts getting to the point where I can’t recover. Also, being able to tell who is a human and who is a bot would be wonderful. Maybe a manual on gameplay too. Other then that, the game rocks! I enjoy driving from one end of town to the other (usually on work calls) and opening the app at either end and being able to buy/sell to different people. I love how much it resembles Dope Wars. One of my favorite games back in the old Dos/BBS days. (dating myself a little bit there) Keep up the great work!

I dont see how the economy will work because i am buying from bots at a low price and selling to bots at double that price. Why would any human player want to buy from me?
If a human player was to buy from me then they would have to increase the price of that drug to make money, as would the next player who buys it and so on. Eventually the price would be so high that the last player is stuck with the drug they cant sell.
Are we supposed to interact with human players or is it supposed to be mainly bots who we buy and sell to?

Maybe some “Junkie” bots could be introduced. They’d always be around the same neighborhood, addicted to something, and if they can’t find what they need for cheap they’ll pay..
And once they get the stuff they “Use” it and it’s gone from the Economy.
The drug lab idea posted earlier is a very good idea, however it would have to be incredibly expensive. Once a few “kingpins” have labs, the drug supply could come from them and not from bots..

Yeah, why are all drugs being bought by drug dealers?
There should be suppliers, dealers and users (suppliers would have to be bots until actual players can buy their own)
The economy has to be self sufficient without anything just appearing out of thin air
I dont think we should have the option of buying extra people or mobsters to protect us, that just gets cheezy when there’s an army of 1000 mobsters for one guy… but instead you have natural mobs and cartels which form and everyone will want to protect their suppliers (because of better prices)
basically you just have to set up a world that allows for a natural economy to grow (supply and demand)

For a natural economy to grow you might need to implement a system of 3 or 4 different ‘professtions’ that allow players to create something that other players will need. IE. As Blow suggested above, Supply and Demand.
Example Professions might be:
- “Drug Lab Owner” (owns drug labs around the city)
- “Hired Goons” (manages thugs to protect trafficers and owners. uses drugs to keep thugs happy etc)
- “Drug Trafficer” (moves drugs, Goons and raw materials between labs and citys)
These are quick examples of professions that need other professions to work. These professions would benefit from the GPS location system aswell.
Missions could be implemented to provide money and raw materials your profession or other professions might need to grow. Materials you dont need can be sold to other players. Missions might need to be placed around a city so players need to either travel there in game (which might take 15mins travel time if u own a car, 30mins if you own a bike etc) or i guess you could physically goto that location with your iphone in hand to get that mission.
These are just some ideas to set-up a self sustaining economy. Its almost heading in a direction of a text based World of Warcraft game cross with GTA!
Not sure what direction you want to head with this game but no matter what their is alot of potential. The work you guys have do thus far is exceptional! congrats!

So I am wondering, is one able to just “leave” the map?
A lot of people are just vanishing but show up later with “goods” so to speak
I am assuming that they are all just boys cuz I am in wyoming and probably
the only in the state with an iPhone! They could be Touch users but I doubt it.
(I don’t think anyone here knows how to jailbreak a device; it’s such an ol’ western kinda town). lol
I would give some suggestions to improve the game but I would just be
repeating what has already been said, so good luck and thanks in advance.

What is definitely needed is some object to buy,
or things to invest in aside from drugs…
Andrey you could get inspiration from the currently used “Drug Lord” application on faceb**k…
Cus the “level” system doesn’t seem so much operational, the game is programmed to make a cops arrest once in a while, no matter what “police protection” level you’re at…
Other : a message system should be implemented…
ANd a system of gangs would be very fun, implementing some gang fights to control an area, and in the area(s) you control you have the ability to get drugs at low prices…
Because what I read previously was true : why the hell would I buy drugs from human users as every two minutes, the same bot comes over with very cheap stuff that I buy and sell back five minutes after…

In reference to the economy model. World has both production & consumption - as I already mentioned earlier it’s created by specially “trained” bots

Monty, game servers were pretty loaded after the update launch due to a large amount of people checking out the new version. should be back to normal already.
